Opinion label: this piece argues for a both/and approach to climate action. The science of warming is settled; the culture of how we talk about responsibility is not.

If you have ever felt that recycling one bottle while a factory stack smokes nearby is pointless, you are not alone — and you are not wrong to want bigger change. Systems shape the options available to most people.

But dismissing every personal action as theatre also misses something. Habits build skills, demand, and political will. People who compost, bike, or cut food waste often become the neighbours who ask for better bins, safer cycle lanes, or a workplace green team.

A hopeful path treats small actions as practice for collective action, not as a moral scoreboard. Fix the leak. Then ask who maintains the pipes. Choose the train when you can. Then support rail investment.

Everyone's Planet exists for that middle space: clear science, useful weekly practice, and room for ideas that scale beyond one household.
